@56three are delighted to share the news of a successful planning decision for our client Stone Acre, on the site of the former Corstorphine Public Hall. The Hall was destroyed by fire back in 2013 and this new proposal will breathe life back in to the structure languishing on the Buildings at Risk Register.The site will feature 11 new apartments, retaining and restoring the existing stone frontage at 14 Kirk Loan, complimented with new elements of facing brick and traditional slated roofs.Stone Acre recognise the value of the existing structure as a key element to Corstorphine’s historic Conservation Area. The proposal features 2 new apartments within the restored shell and an additional 9 units to the rear, made up of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments.The team are already progressing the technical design with a view to commence construction within the next year. The submission was stated to be an exemplar approach and gained a unanimous decision at committee last week. The statement office building will offer market leading sustainable accommodation for the island, along with retail and leisure space plus an 80-key hotel, all centred around a new public square. In support of business growth on the Isle of Man as well as bolstering the demand for hotel accommodation and retail in this prime location, the team are already progressing the technical design with a view to commence construction later this year. We have developed this new interior designed product with Empiric Student Property plc for Post Graduate offering. Located within a listed building in the heart of the city, whilst boasting high ceilings and some remnants of period charm, these apartments were desperately in need of a complete overhaul. Designed with Post Grad students in mind, we worked closely with client @Empiric Student Property, and delivery partner Clark Contracts, to create studio apartments that now offer the ultimate combination of comfort, style, and elegance, within a heritage setting. This 209-bedroom residence opened its doors to students 4 years ago this month, as the first building to be delivered as part of a wider masterplan for the Forthside area. The development featured a lower plinth block alongside the main building to preserve views to the Wallace Monument. In some ways a trail blazer for Stirling as it marked the first true purpose-built student accommodation in the city and has been followed by several developments in the city, including our own Carters Yard.
