An inventive and modest masterplan for residential and business use in the East Lothian village forming a development framework specifically tailored to service the need for a new sewerage system servicing the site and wider community.
The form is ubiquitous in and around the East Lothian villages and through close consultation with East Lothian’s Planning Authority along with associated stakeholders and the local community, the open landscape site is sensitively designed, sited and landscaped to complement and enhance the local environment.
The site’s existing small and medium enterprises are retained and diversified around a new ‘village green’ surrounded by residential accommodation. Visual impact assessments were undertaken and used to develop a strategy for the phasing of the development.
