Comprising a full urban block, the development of 115 mixed tenure apartments on Gorgie Road has been used as a recent exemplar project by City of Edinburgh Council for the design of a modern tenement. The bold design was carefully considered to define a robust street edge and provide a catalyst for the further redevelopment of adjacent sites providing much needed affordable housing.
A variety of apartment types are provided within each stairwell where blind tenure is positively maintained throughout the development. The central landscaped courtyard is overlooked by all apartments and contains communal barbeque areas and discreetly positioned drying greens to encourage the building of a new community within this established residential area.
