The redevelopment of a former Debenhams Department Store in the centre of Nuneaton will transform the former Debenhams building into 63No. 1 bedroom and 2 bedrooms BtR apartments. The proposal sits within the fabric of the existing building with the addition of a single storey extension across the scheme and the demolition of the deepest part of the plan to create private outdoor amenity.
The massing has been broken down into 3 residential blocks and 1 smaller new build block on the east of the site facing onto Bridge Street. The new build block will create two flats and a small commercial unit that addresses Bridge Street (E). This will bring life and activity to a section of the street that is currently used for deliveries and servicing the existing department store.
The proposed scheme has the potential to play a key part in the regeneration of the centre of Nuneaton and aligns with the wider ambitions for the town centre. The proposals will create a new urban quarter with homes, a series of small commercial units suitable for business start-ups, new connections and will open views and access to the natural amenity of the river.
